About Follower RL

Follower RL is a seven-day roguelike challenge game built around monster taming and formation. The player is deliberately weak and cannot attack, so every dangerous room depends on the creatures following in the four cardinal directions.

Each follower attacks automatically using the move assigned to its current direction. Surviving is therefore about movement and rotation: a strong companion is only useful when it is facing the threat that needs to be stopped.

Tame Monsters with Food

Creatures have preferences for dishes from the player’s world. Inspect a monster to learn what it likes, buy food, and use gifts to move its relationship from black hearts toward red hearts.

When the bond is strong enough, you can attempt to recruit the creature if one of the four party positions is available. Gifts can also affect current followers, so food remains useful after a monster joins.

Rotate the Formation

Followers occupy the north, east, south, and west spaces around the player. Q and E rotate that formation, changing which creature and move faces each direction. Tight corridors and approaching enemies make that rotation as important as movement itself.

How to Play

• Move with WASD and avoid exposing the unarmed player.
• Click creatures to inspect abilities, moves, and food preferences.
• Open the shop with F and purchase useful dishes.
• Give food with I or by clicking the selected dish.
• Use R to bond when a creature likes you enough.
• Rotate followers with Q and E so the right automatic attack faces each threat.
