Pokemon Roguelike - Catch, Train, Battle

Pokelike is a browser-based Pokemon roguelike focused on route choice, team-building, and boss progression. You start a run with one starter, move through branching map nodes, and build a squad through wild encounters, trainer battles, trades, and item picks.
The game keeps classic Pokemon-style strengths at its core: type matchups, evolution timing, and role balance inside a six-mon team. It plays fast, but it still rewards planning. A safer route might preserve HP for the next boss, while a risky trainer route can give faster level spikes and stronger momentum.
At a mechanical level, Pokelike is about making good decisions before each fight rather than reacting with twitch inputs during the fight.
Every map is a branching board of node types: battle, catch, item, trainer, event, trade, healing, and boss. Pathing matters because choosing one node locks you out of alternatives on that layer. Each decision shapes your run's trajectory.
You shape your team during the run: catch new Pokemon, replace weak links, and adjust for upcoming bosses. Type overlap can be powerful if planned, but bad overlap creates clear counters. Balance your six-mon roster carefully.
Combat resolves automatically, but outcomes depend heavily on prep: levels, move quality, type advantage, held items, and team order. The strategic load is in drafting and pathing, not button combos.
Runs are punctuated by gym-style and elite-style checkpoints. These fights force you to convert route decisions into a stable team plan under pressure. Boss preparation is key to survival.
